AnimEigo has announced Shogun Assassin for release on blu-ray on August 24th, 2010. The release marks the 30th anniversary of the film that combined the first two movies in the Lone Wolf and Cub series into one movie targeted at American audiences. Specs have not been revealed at this time, but AnimEigo has produced new special features, exclusive to this release.-Audio commentary with producer David Weisman, illustrator Jim Evans, and actor Gibran Evans (the English voice of Daigoro)
-Interview with Samuel L. Jackson about his fondness of Shogun Assassin and other samurai films.
AnimEgio released a dvd boxset of all the Shogun Assassin movies a few years ago and the first movie in the collection had a commentary by Ric Myers and a restoration featurette. These features are nowhere to be found in the press release. Here's hoping that they put them on this release.
